Established in 1994, PJ Symphony is formed as a non-profit organization by a group of young music enthusiasts who mostly were former schools' band. It started the first band named as PJ Youth Symphonic Bands (PJYSB). It was formed with the idea of providing opportunity for musicians from different backgrounds and organizations to share their skills and experience together in the art of music performance. PJ Youth Symphonic Band had a successful debut performance in May 1994. Also. In the same year, Mr. Mitsuo Nonami, a band director from the Yamaha Music Corporation, Japan, had accredited the band performance, when PJYSB were selected as a model band by Yamaha Music to participate in a musical workshop. PJYSB members are mainly from the Klang Valley. Eventually, more members joined the band, including those who came from other states of Penang, Perak, and Melaka & Johore. At present, the band consist of veteran players from various bands and orchestra. Such as National Symphonic Orchestra, Kuala Lumpur Symphony Orchestra, and other school band members, who are desirous for more learning channel, to enhance their music skills and experience. Prior to stage performance, the band members have to undergo a very intensive rehearsal schedule, at age ranged between 15-25, they are dedicated and always exhibiting good disciplinary attitude.
